Product Description
The Tjernlund Dryer Duct Booster allows homeowners to dry their clothes faster, prevent lint buildup and prevent dryer fires. Dryers are often installed in areas of homes where they cannot work effectively, leading to longer drying times, high energy use and lint buildup in ductwork. The Dryer Duct Booster eliminates these issues. U.S.A. Dimensions L x W x H (in.): 14 x 10 x 10 3/4, Color: Chrome, Auto On/Off: Yes, Mounting Hardware Included: Yes

5 out of 5 stars Product works great, but plan your installation before you purchase this product.   January 18, 2010

The Tjernlund Duct Booster Fan can only be installed in one orientation if the pipe is running horizontally. The there is a pressure sensing port that must be upright so that it does not fill up with condensate. Further, the booster fan must be installed more than 15 equivalent feet away from the dryer and more than 5 equivalent feet from the exhaust port. I would recommend that you download the installation instructions from []and verify that you can install the booster fan in a proper location and or...ORientation before you buy it. With the restrictions on installation, and obstructions in my crawl space, there was only one possible location for my installation. I can imagine scenario where one would not be able to install this product due to constraints.

I am pleased with the Duct Booster fan. It is quiet. I can't hear it over the noise of the dryer itself, and I have a newer, quiet front loader. The booster fan does what it is supposed to do, keep the velocity of the air up in the duct so that lint doesn't accumlate in the duct. There is now fine lint on the patio under my dryer exhaust port of my home.

I also recommend cleaning the duct prior to installing the duct booster fan. The Linteater Dryer Vent Cleaning system sold through amazon worked well for me.

Product does what it says it will do. I have a duct length of about 35 linear feet, that includes (7) 90 degree bends. Drying time is now 1/2 of what it was before.

**The Tjernlund Dryer Duct Booster exceeds my expectations** Our dryer vents runs from our laundry room, into the attic, and over the length of a two car garage, which is over 25ft. This product cuts the dryer time in half. The Tjernlund Dryer Duct Booster is quite and has been a life saver.

4 out of 5 stars So far - working nominally   May 21, 2009

I would like to see more support on the Tjernlund web site as far as ducting specifications for hooking up to the fan and a copy of the owner's manual. The price seems high. I like the engineering in that the motor is separated from the hot air flow along with permanently lubricated bearings.

The setup is excellent. Install the system and plug it in with a cool dryer to calibrate the built-in pressure switch inside the fan unit. It is working as advertised.

The strength of the air flow seems adequate for my dryer. I hope that in addition to solving my roof venting need it helps dry clothes faster.

4 out of 5 stars Installation restrictions.   August 17, 2010

I have about 50ft of run from my dryer to the outside wall if you consider two 90 degree turns (each equivlent to 5ft of run). My duct work was full of lint because, obviously, there was not enough push from my dryer fan to the outside. I liked this product because it separated the motor from the fan. Believe me, there is a lot of lint that moves through the duct work. You do not want it to get stuck in you motor. Before buying this product you must read the installation restrictions. They are at the Tjernlund web site. In brief, the unit is 10.5" from top to bottom and 14" from front to back (be sure you have the room for it). The unit has a PRC (pressure response control) that senses the pressure in your duct system. The unit must be placed so the sensing tube is on the top or on the side but not on the bottom when installed. The air flows through the unit in just one direction so the unit has to be positioned in your duct work in just that direction. It can be positioned either horizontal or vertical but it is recommended that it not be installed closer then 15 equivalent feet (equivalent meaning add 5ft for a 90 degree turn and 2.5ft for a 45) from your dryer or 5 equivalent ft from your outside opening. In all of the run I had I only ended up with one 2ft space that would accomodate this unit. When I finally got it installed I calibrated it as directed. It went through the motions the instructions said it would but when I turned on the dryer to dry something the booster would not turn on. I calibrated it no less then 10 times with no eventual sucess. I was about to call Tjernlund when I noted that the sensing tube opening in the duct is not far from the input opening of the duct going into it from the dryer. When I installed all the duct work, I really pushed it together to try to insure I would have no duct leaks (of course, I taped the seams) It occurred to me that I might have pushed the input duct so far into the unit that I might be obstruction the sensor opening. I backed the duct going into the unit out about an inch and retaped the seam. The unit works as expected. It turns on about 15 seconds after the dryer starts and it shuts of when the dryer goes off. Outside, the force of the air blowing out of the duct is considerable and there is a fair amount of lint nearby.
